Yþernèıar (X-SAMPA: /iTer\nəjar\/) is a language spoken in northern Antrium, specifically in the Yþernyè region.
Contents
Alphabet
The Yþernèıar alphabet contains 45 letters, making it larger than many alphabets, such as the one used in English or French. The Yþernèıar alphabet goes in order as follows: a, á, b, c, d, ð, e, é, è, f, g, h, ı, i, y, ý, ỳ, ÿ, j, ψ, k, l, m, n, ŋ, o, ó, ö, ø, ǿ, p, r, ř, s, ſ, t, þ, u, ú, ü, v, w, λ, x, z.
Vowels
Yþernèıar has 15 vowels, in 4 categories: free, checked, unstressed, and diphthong.
Free
Free vowels are vowels that can be followed by either a vowel or a consonant. There are 7 free vowels in Yþernèıar: a, e, i, y, o, ø, and u.
Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation | Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation |
Aa | a | A as in father | Oo | o | o as in boat |
Ee | e | e as in bayed | Øø | ø | 3 as in bird |
İi | i | y as in French tu | Uu | u | u as in booed |
Yy | y | i as in be |
Checked
Checked vowels are vowels that cannot be followed by another vowel. There are six checked vowels in Yþernèıar: á, é, ý, ó, ǿ, and ú. Checked vowels are marked with an acute accent, (´) or "jynøtóſ", literally translating to "checker".
Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation | Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation |
Áá | ál | U as in good | Óó | ó | { as in bad |
Éé | é | E as in bed | Ǿǿ | ǿ | 3~ as in French pain |
Ýý | ýl | I as in did | Úú | úl | V as in mud |
Unstressed
There are two unstressed vowels in Yþernèıar: è and ỳ. Unstressed vowels are marked with a grave accent, (`) or "ðenzỳnzóſ", literally translating to "something that destresses", or "destress-er".
Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation | Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation |
Èè | lè | ə as in Rosa's | Ỳỳ | lỳ | 1 as in roses |
Diphthongs
Diphthongs are letters that indicate multiple vowel sounds. While all other Yþernèıar letters only represent a single sound, diphthongs do not, because the language does not contain one of the vowel sounds present in these diphthongs. There are 3 diphthongs in Yþernèıar: ÿ, ö, and ü. Diphthongs are marked with a umlaut or diaeresis, (¨) or "miltèmnóſ", literally meaning "multiplier".
Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation | Letter | Name of letter | Pronunciation |
Ÿÿ | ÿ | aI as in buy | Üü | ü | aU as in cow |
Öö | ö | OI as in boy |
Consonants
There are 27 vowels in Yþernèıar. They are all individual letters without accents except for ř, which has a "vyrünèıóſ," (ˇ) or "trill" accent.
