The Bullfinch-class helicopter frigate replaced the Furtive-class as the Royal Isselmere-Nieland Navy's general purpose frigate in RL year 2004. The class was named after the former president and director-general (P/D-G) of the Royal Shipyards of Isselmere-Nieland, Sir Thomas Bullfinch, who was obliged to retire after the scandal involving the construction of the Andvari Shipyards necessary to build the Europa-class. With greater foreign competition for sales, particularly from firms in such nations as Sarzonia, Praetonia, and Questers, the Bullfinch-class was not as great an export success as its predecessor.
