Lyme and Martens Industries
Lyme and Martens Industries, plc (LMI) are an Isselmere-Nielander robotics, precision weapons, and uncrewed vehicle manufacturer. LMI is headquartered in Ponsonby, Detmere. Its president is Henry Bower.
History
Lyme and Martens Industries started operations in 1904 when two designers, Augustus Lyme and Horatio Martens, erstwhile of the Turing-Babbage Corporation challenged their former employer for a gun stabilisation gyroscope contract with the Royal Isselmere-Nieland Navy (RINN). Lyme and Martens Functional Instruments, as the company was then known, won the contract, beginning the firm's long relationship with the RINN.
Detmerian Aerospace Dynamics
Detmerian Aerospace is a partner corporation of LMI, formed in collaboration with Fennerby Aerotechnics, plc (FAC). Fiscal difficulties imposed on FAC by the Royal Isselmere-Nieland Air Force's Strategic Bomber 21 (SB21) programme forced the aircraft manufacturer to seek additional financial support. Despite FAC's success with the domestic production of the ZaS-27 Firebird, the firm was unable to secure credit from any banks or any further funding from the government for either the SB21 or a new cheaper multirole fighter. Noting the difficulties facing FAC, LMI attempted to buy the Detmerian firm only to be blocked by FAC's board of directors, the Detmerian General Assembly, and Parliament.
