History
Coins and banknotes of the Topian Guilder have values that are multiples of 3. This stems from the ternary and nonary (base-9) numbering systems which were used in the Ropa-Topian Empire, but which also remained to be used long after the RTE's demise.
The values used may look a little odd now the decimal system is being used, but there is an advantage over the more common denominations used in most other 'decimal' nations: As long as everyone makes sure they have at least one of every coin and every banknote, a person will always have enough change when buying or selling something.
An example: An item that costs 99G can be paid with a 81G and a 27G note, the change will be a 9G note.
