Who Rules
Official Answer
The "95X Board of Directors," which functions very closely to the board of a large corporation. President Jason Barbur, 95X Head of State and President of (95X) National Broadcasting, acts as Board Chairman. Anywhere from 4 to 8 other board members (who are usually also heads of major 95X-based corporations) vote on all national policy of the nation. Terms are indefinite.
Who Really Rules
Pension fund organizations and wealthy investors, who own much of the stock of 95X's corporations in their investment portfolios; many unforgivingly want the highest return for their investment, regardless of impacts to other factors such as the environment or jobs eliminated. Since 95X Board members are also corporate heads (no board member has ever been a regular citizen of 95X), many national policy decisions are made only to keep the investors happy.
National Name Origin
95X was named by a public transit and radio enthusiast after one of his favorite real life bus routes, "95X Tigard I-5 Express," a TriMet route serving Downtown Portland, Oregon; Tigard; and Sherwood. This was after ruling out naming the nation after a transit system (for obvious legal reasons). In January 2007, TriMet canceled the route. The nation serves as an unofficial tribute.
Notes
95X self-proclaims a dubious title of most birth defects of any nation in Atlantian Oceania. The cause is rumored to be environmental pollution, but no study into the topic has been officially sanctioned. Private studies and observations are regularly dismissed as biased and inconclusive. Privately funded organizations specifically set up to assist with certain defects assist millions of children and adults every year.
Its cities of 500 million stick together through massive, thorough public transit systems, and a form of post-modern technology that allows for such high populations. Many residents of such mega-cities, which have every service imaginable, spend their entire lives in their home city.
Paper currency is nonexistent, replaced completely by standardized bank cards; making it impossible for someone without a bank account to do any business in the nation. It also makes collection of the countries' 13% National Sales Tax automatic.
As 95X allocates no funds towards a military, it purchases border security services from its former enemy, Scottfire. A recent Board of Directors decision would've established the nations' own militia, however funding was voted down by the Board of Directors.
In a recent UN Ranking, 95X was ranked 1st in the region and 1,337th in the world for stupidest citizens.
