The Celestial Regent's Colony of Tempalhiyon (Korean: 대한태팔희연 | Chinese: 大韓太八喜緣) is a massive, devout nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 2.5 billion are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Religion & Spirituality are on the agenda. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Cities are engulfed by smog, a dictator has seized power and outlawed elections, school uniforms are compulsory, and Red Cross demand for body bags are rising while sutures are decreasing. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Tempalhiyon's national animal is the crane, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the weon.

Geography

Tempalhiyon was recently established by colonists from the Han Empire in the Atlantian Oceanian Region.

History

Pre-Colonial Period

The region in which Tempalhiyon lies has been inhabited at least a thousand years. The region has been hard to tame, and the territory is literally dotted with ruins from old civilizations. Much of the territory was part of the former Realm of Xile, a corrupt state that fell under during a conflict in Atlantian Oceania. For a long time afterwards, the land was uncivilized, inhabited by the Tempal people. It was during this time that tribes began to arise and form a confederation. However, even this simple form of civilization was subject to oppressive forces, and the thought of civilization returned to some people, who formed a league to seek out a civilization.

The Colonial Period

Following offers from local governments in the region, the Celestial Regency of Daehanjeiguk accepted the offers of the Tempal tribes and authorized the formation of the Celestial Regent's Colonial Foundation (대한식민기초), to establish a colony in Tempalhiyon with Han colonists. The attempt was aimed at expanding Han influence and to assist legitimately citizens of a foreign country. Despite negative connotations of the Imperial Colonial Foundation (mostly due to context), the Foundation has largely incorporated the local population in the construction and advancement of the territory. Despite ethnic differences, Han colonists shared many common traits with the local population, cementing the increasingly pervasive view that "race is not a matter of human differences but biological and geographical differences.

The first leader of the new government was Ping Dimitrios Salil-Stanislav - a native Tempal who was selected by the Emperor personally - principally because he was the most adept leader of the tribal leaders, and he was the only person with a name at the time.
